Local Place Plans
Local Place Plans are a new type of plan introduced by the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019. Local Place Plans give communities a statutory right to have their own policy proposals for the development and use of land taken into account by the planning system.
Earlier this year, the Inverkeithing Local Place Plan (LPP) was drawn up by local Councillors from all parties, Inverkeithing Community Council and Inverkeithing Trust. It was circulated to townsfolk for comments on social media and at local events before it was finalised and submitted to Fife Council in June. In September, Fife Council confirmed that the Plan had been registered and stated that: 'The Local Place Plan will be important for the preparation of the Local Development Plan. Relevant proposals will be assessed as part of that process. We will also be looking to see how we can help the Local Place Plan inform other plans, strategies and decision-making across the Council.' Ducks are go!
Inverkeithing Trust are happy to announce that we have taken delivery of 50 wooden ducks made by pupils in the Supported Learning Department of Inverkeithing High School under the guidance of head teacher Rebecca Horn. They were assisted by teacher Danielle Mendes and pupils of the Technical Department with the design and cutting of the dashing birds (to try to ensure that they do indeed dash!). The project was set up as part of the long standing collaboration between the School and the Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay Rotary Club. At the handover of the ducks to the Trust, Hamish Hardie, youth project coordinator for the Rotary Club, thanked the pupils for their great work and said that they were all looking forward to seeing the results of their efforts in due course.
These striking birds, bred specifically for racing will now undergo training in preparation for their inaugural race on the Keithing burn. Race organisers are working on tides and dates and will keep you posted! INVERKEITHING FLOWER SHOW 2024
