The weekly food Pantry at Ballast Bank community centre in Preston Crescent is open every Thursday morning from 10.00 – 12.00.

From Thursday 10 December, we’ll be able to serve 6 people at a time inside the building rather than customers having to queue outside in the cold weather.

We’ve given our regulars time slots every 15 mins from 10 to 12 to be able to do this and still comply with Covid restrictions.

But … a wee reminder that The Pantry is for all Inverkeithing residents and we want to encourage more of our townsfolk to come along - at £3 per bag per customer (or a donation), what you get is amazing value for money!

The Pantry is part of the FareShare Scotland scheme that aims to prevent food surplus from supermarkets going to landfill. And we’re very excited to tell you about other help we get:

  • weekly pick-ups of free food near its end date from local Co-op, Asda and Tesco stores - helping them to reduce food waste;
  • donation of free food every 2 months from Asda, Dalgety Bay;
  • £250 grant from Eats Rosyth and the Scottish Government Supporting Communities Fund;
  • 40 freshly made free takeaway meals every week from Eats Rosyth for our customers – all we provide are the containers;
  • £250 in vouchers from Scotmid through their Membership & Community Manager;
  • £2,000 grant from The Robertson Trust which meant we’ve been able to buy a big commercial freezer to safely store fresh and frozen goods and buy more supplies; and
  • help from Aldi staff with ordering and loading up our purchases of toiletries and cleaning products from them. Plus we’re in process of registering with Aldi’s Neighbourly Scheme so that we can collect their end date food surplus too;
  • amazing support from Fife Council staff (you know who you are Carol and Lisa!) – so very much appreciated.

Demand is growing steadily every week for the Pantry and we’re so grateful for everyone’s support to keep this going.

Please come along on Thursdays and tell all your Inverkeithing friends and neighbours about the Pantry!
